Hollywood stars in the making !

Gembrook Shines

A great days cycle by the "Alt Thursday" group in beautiful condition on the short but very testing Emerald to Gembrook trail.

It was great to see a fit Werner in action, Jurgen tear "assing" away thx to his personal fitness regime and JB on his armoured personnel carrier (aka his E bike).

The guys are on the lookout for a Hollywood contract after their dynamic riding was captured with some cool looking aerial footage. Many Thx to the other JB for organising !

Debrief Jurgen's ride 21 Nov

0830 on Thursday 21 saw seven stalwart fast fellows (six plus me) launch from Bayswater, headed for Beasly's nursery. Warmish weather yet due to expert guidance from David Moran and Jurgen, we road under a cool canopy of trees for 92.7% of the way. What wind there was occured above us in the canopy except on the return ride where it hit us with a gentle tail wind.
What more can you ask!

Cycling around the world !

Came across this guy when cycling to Warrnambool on our recent 4 day Western District cycle. We were complaining about a few days of headwinds and this guy rocked up 3 and 1/2 years into his round the world cycle. When we spoke to him he indicated he was planning on heading up the Oodnadatta track and through the centre to Darwin.

In reading through his blog I found out that he's lost part of a finger and had 2 emergency operations en route. One was performed in Khorog Tajikistan on the Afghan border, I cycled through there last year and there is not a lot  - WOW !

4 Days in the Western Districts - Ararat to Warrnambool

Self and 3 former Warbies set off on a 4 day Western District adventure taking advantage of our Senior Rail passes when we rode over 250 kms from Ararat to Warrnambool.

Day 1 Ararat to Dunkeld saw 30c temps and some lovely background Grampians scenery while Day 2 (Dunkeld to Mortlake) saw a 10c (feels like 3.5c day) - I can't comment on the scenery as we were too buy keeping our heads out of the very strong headwinds. Day 3 saw another cold headwind day to Terang and just to make it different day 4 was similar arriving in Warrnambool just in time for our train back to Melb. Many thanks to Rick Coxhill who put together an enjoyable (headwinds excluded) few days away. ps yes that is a bicycle tow rope and yes Country folks are without doubt heaps friendlier than city ones !

Friendly bakery in Willaura - bag was given to the best looking bloke

Noel needing a bit of help on day 1 after a recent medical issue

Rick braving the 3.5c conditions !

A final Vanilla slice before catching the train back to Melb

Diamond Creek Thursday 21 Nov.

By popular demand we are again riding to Diamond Creek via Mullum Mullum trail. How far? Don't know for sure - but bloody far enough, that's why we are starting at Bayswater park @ 9.30 am. See you there.

-Emerald - Gembrook 14 Nov

7 stalwarts embraced coolish weather (until we started climbing) to explore the metropolis of Gembrook, once again.
A good time was had by all and the coffee, cream bun, vanilla slice, sausage roll  and vege sandwich went down well.

Watch this space for next Thursday (21st) when  Jurgen is leading the push.

Thursday Nov 7 1 in 20

This ride is postponed yet again. I feel there may be a causal link between our nominating that ride and the onset of wet stuff. If anyone knows how to break the nexus, please advise.
