O.I.C. for the Williamstown excursion was Helen with Kerri as Aide De Camp.
So it was that six set off, headed SW with fair skies, no wind and only three short hills to climb out of Jell's Park leading to Glen Waverley. With them out of the way, it is basicslly down hill all the away to Williamstown where we shared lunch with all the Beautiful People.
A long, long leisurely lunch stop, which in hindsight, was not the best plan we could have adopted.
We forgot that night falls rather early in June.
Returning via St Kilda esplanade, swinging off at Elwood and heading for the sky rail trail, all was going to plan. Home in time for tea and a whisky. En route we decided to detour and explore a variety of un-named suburbs, remarking on some bizaar house styles, noting the paucity of street signs and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. We enjoyed ourselves too much. Time had slipped by invisibly. Oop! Dark clouds forming. Sun low on the horizon. Evening pending and 25km still to go!
Not quite but almost...every man for himself. Jurgen and Jon took the high road whereas Helen, Kerri, John M & Werner took the low road and I think a few speed records may have been broken as we headed for Dandenong and back to the cars. Nonetheless, all's well that ends well. We packed the bikes and drove home ....... in the dark.
A lovely 108km ride.
Thanks Helen and Kerri.
