New Rides discovered

It was a week that unveiled 2 new adventure filled routes.

Tuesday saw Kerri, Helen and self take Old Gembrook Rd all the way to Army road before we got really off track on Reynolds road taking a horse trail to stumble across the remains of a long forgotten aqueduct. From here we flew down Army road to Mullane road entering the Cardinia Lakes estate from a scenic "back door" to have lunch at a bakery with the worlds best Chicken Curry pie ! Our return was predictably  uphill along Deep Creek and Huxtable Rds to Bourke Creek Rd. We decided to make it even more challenging by pulling apart Kerris bike to fix a sudden puncture. Throw in a tyre that was glued to the rim, a pump that wasnt working and the one that was designed to blow up kids balloons (3,589 pumps later) the return effort was a tiring one that saw us arrive back ar the car park between after 4 pm following a 9a.m. start !

With Kerri on holidays and the rest of the group MIA  Thursday saw Helen lead a group of one (me) from FTG to Berwick along our well cycled route made more "thrilling" when Helen narrowly avoided a high speed head on near Police Paddocks on the Dandenong Creek trail. Still shaking (both ) we made it to Berwick where we thought it would be interesting to have a progressive lunch Coffee at one place, croissant at another and a 3rd course at Endeavour Hills on the way back

The return leg (done by Helen on Monday by Karlos ride group) was a beauty going along Ernst Wanke road before venturing into wetlands and reserves. One was Frog Hollow reserve which we cycled twice before declaring ourselves lost. With directions given by locals we cursed as we climbed what was one of the steepest roads in Melbourne then cursed some more when we found out that directions given had got us further lost. Finally we made our way to Heatherton road when this time we really cursed realising that the long footpath we had to go up was in fact steeper than Road one (we walked)

Finally we were back on track cycling into the Endeavour Hills shopping centre (lunch course 3) through more parks and Police Paddocks back on to the Dandenong Creek Trail

This time we arrived back at the car park somewhere between 4.30 and 5 - I cant be sure as i was delirious and fixated on a thickshake from Mcdonalds in Upwey. Never the less 2 days of really interesting riding !

As for me I'm off to the furniture leather restoration place to repair my bum !

to see i can get my "Bum"
