In an effort to better define the difficulty of upcoming rides the following scale should be used -
L-LS
Low level intensity and or likely to cause a rider to sweat (Werner excluded). Examples of activity level intensity expected include getting on and off the bike !
M
Medium level intensity. This is best described as going in a forward direction at a speed just faster than slow walking. This sort of ride would exclude steep hills / strong headwinds and unpleasant weather conditions while including mandatory coffee breaks every 20 kms as defined by sect 12.3 of the groups riding award conditions
MC
Medium level to challenging. The levels of difficulty here may be rider dependant i.e. Any ride after 8.30 a.m. (Jurgen), any ride involving dirt (Kirsten), any ride without an appropriate coffee break (Mike & Kerri, any ride without a 4 decker "Vanilla Slice " (Jon) etc,
C
Challenging, These rides include a significant amount of sections where it will be difficult to talk and ride at the same time. "Phraseology" here may include grunts or single word answers. Best here not to ride alongside any of the groups more talkative riders
VC
Very challenging. Includes all of the above as well as times where it may even be difficult to breathe at all ! Observable behaviours will often include riders falling from their bike (excludes Werner who falls for other reasons ).If a rider does collapse first aid will be immediately applied if / when we can find out who has the first aid kit (Kirsten ?)
AK
Defines a ride that will be absolutely "knackering". A super challenging ride that will push your survival ability to the limit ! Steep hills, string headwinds, unrideable conditions, delayed coffee breaks etc The observable behaviours here may include the rider dismounting at completion and throwing their bike in the general direction of their car then crawling into their vehicle and departing wordlessly (hmm maybe I'm just describing me!)
AK + D
Defines a ride that will be absolutely knackering and also include delusional behaviour. Observable behaviour here will be a rider temporarily emerging from a coma at the end of the ride to say "Great Ride Guys let's do it again next week !
