I’m pissed off with what has happened to our group. I belong to several cycling groups, walking groups, a ski touring and kayaking group and without exception they all operate in the same way; namely, the leader keeps the group together at all times whether he or she leads from the front or the anywhere else. This is how our group has operated for at least ten years and we have had some very enjoyable rides. Yes sometimes you have to clench your teeth together waiting for slower people but that is the name of the game. One can always make up for a slower ride by doing a faster one my yourself some other time. So why is it that we no longer operate in this way? I want to get a discussion going via this blog.
One compromise that we could discuss is that on Tuesdays the ride could be a social ride whereby the group keeps together at all times like we have done in the past and on Thursdays it can be a survival of the fittest ride so that any would be prima donnas who likes to show how good they are can have their day in the sun. Maybe people have other suggestions or are happy with the status quo. Personally I’m quite happy to ride by myself.
Yours in cycling,
Jurgen
